They have dominated on the field and Sorrento FC added to their year of success at tonight’s 2024 State League & Hyundai Women’s League Division One Awards.
The Gulls stormed back to the NPL following a record-breaking, unbeaten season in which they won 20 of their 22 games.
And that was recognised at the Sam Kerr Football Centre this evening where captain Dean Cummings was named the State League Division One Player of the Year.

The Percy Doyle club also saw Steve McGarry win the Division One Coach of the Year Award, while Sorrento captain Cummings took out a double with the Golden Boot Award for his 29 league goals. The club also took out the Fair Play Award.
The one award Sorrento did not collect was the Division One Goalkeeper of the Year, which went to Dianella White Eagles’ Peter Pilkadaris.
The Hyundai Women’s League Division One Player of the Year Award was won by Mandurah City captain Georgia Aiesi.
Aiesi was instrumental in Mandurah’s third-place finish, just two points behind champions Perth AFC.

The league winners were recognised with Cynthia Kuman named Goalkeeper of the Year. Subiaco’s Graham Normanton took out the Coach of the Year Award, while Sally Rojahn, also of Subi, collected the Golden Boot for her 25 goals. Murdoch University Melville won the Fair Play Award.
Three teams ended the season being promoted from State League Division Two but it was a player from one of the sides that missed out who won the Player of the Year Award.

East Perth striker Ryan McCready was recognised for a fantastic campaign in which he also won the Golden Boot with his 25-goal haul.
Champions Kalamunda City had a double celebration as German Montealegre was named Coach of the Year and Rain Blauberg took the Goalkeeper of the Year Award. Curtin University, who are heading to Division One, won the Fair Play Award.

Thanks to Hyundai Australia Regional General Manager Michael Beros for assisting with the Player of theYear Awards alongside Football West CEO Jamie Harnwell.
