Jackson Stephens produced a stoppage-time stunner as Bayswater City began their 2025 Australian Championship campaign with an excellent 1-1 draw away to Syndey United 58.
In a tight contest which saw Oli la Galia head just wide early on, the 2025 NPLWA champions were unlucky to go behind when United were awarded a penalty 20 minutes from the end. Carlos De Oliveira took responsibility and fired the ball beyond Baysie keeper Lewis Italiano.
But in the second minute of additional time, Bayswater found an equaliser when Jackson Stephens scored a dipping side-footed volley from outside the box that flew into the top right corner and earned the visitors a valuable point.
Bayswater have their first home game of the inaugural National Second Tier competition next Sunday against South Australian outfit Metrostars.
