Football West can announce the Western Australia State Men’s Team to face Perth Glory in the 2025 Challenge Cup.

The game will take place on Wednesday 17 September at Dorrien Gardens. Kick-off is 6.30pm and it is free entry.

Ian Ferguson will again be State Team head coach. The Scot was in charge when the State team took on Indonesian side Persebaya Surabaya at the Sam Kerr Football Centre in July. He recently led Dianella White Eagles to the NPL as State League Division One champions.

Olympic Kingsway have six players in the squad, including Laat Mathiang who scored the winning goal for Glory in this fixture 12 months ago. Perth RedStar have five, while there are two from hosts Perth SC.

There are no players from 2025 NPLWA – Men’s title winners Bayswater City as they will be preparing for the inaugural Australian Championship.

State Team team manager Alex Novatsis said: “The annual game against Perth Glory’s A-League side is always an enjoyable occasion, and there is added interest this time after the State Team performed so well against Persebaya.

“The players we have selected are excited to represent WA and want to put on a show.

“I’d like to thank the clubs for their support and we look forward to reclaiming the Challenge Cup.”

The game will be streamed live and free on Streamer.com.au.
