The 2026 Female Football Week kicks off this week.

Female Football Week is a national initiative where Football West and other Member Federations join Football Australia to recognise the contributions of women and girls in football.

Female Football Week runs until 17 May and includes several activations as part of the celebrations.

Thursday 7 May

Mentoring for Referees Webinar

Join FIFA match officials Lara Lee and Paula Orlandi as they share their journeys and discuss how mentoring has supported their development.

Tom Finch from the Australian Sports Commission will also join us to talk about creating safe and inclusive spaces for women and girls in officiating.

Also, hear from Football NSW’s Chloe Holmes as she shares why she became a referee and the strong sense of community she has found through officiating.

This is a valuable webinar for anyone interested in mentoring and supporting football officials.

Friday 8 May

Women in Football Breakfast

A celebration of female football, featuring a networking breakfast and panel Q&A at Sam Kerr Football Centre.

During the Women in Football Breakfast, we will announce the Female Football Week Award Winners.

This acknowledges:

  • Player of the Year
  • Coach of the Year
  • Referee of the Year
  • Volunteer of the Year
  • Community Champion of the Year

Saturday 9 May

Kalgoorlie Girls Day Out

To celebrate Female Football Week, Football West will host a FREE Regional Girls Day Out at Oasis Playing Fields. This is a ‘come-and-try’ style event open to all girls and gender-diverse children aged 6-16.

Time: 9.30-11.30am

There is no need to register. Just turn up and enjoy.

Ask Me Almost Anything Webinar

As part of Female Football Week, join the team behind the CommBank Matildas for an Ask Me Almost Anything webinar session.

Hear from Emily Husband, Ben Roche, Alicia Edge, and Briana Harvey as they share insights from inside the Australia National Women’s Team’s environment.
