Gold Medal winner Dean Evans heads new Football School

Football West is excited to launch its inaugural Football School, headed by NPL Gold Medal winner and former professional player Dean Evans.
The three-day camp is for players aged 7-15 and takes place at the Sam Kerr Football Centre from Monday 14 April to Wednesday 16 April. It will run from 9am to 3pm each day.
The Football School will consist of three on-field sessions – technical development, tactical preparation and small-sided games – plus a look at wider game preparation.
Evans, who joined Football West as the new Program Development Lead, said: “I am delighted to get the Football School off the ground.
“I have been involved in youth development coaching for 15 years in WA and New South Wales and am looking forward to giving talented and passionate young players an insight into what it is like to be in a professional environment.
“The Football School will concentrate on games, skills and technique while we will also discuss things like goal-setting, the importance of nutrition etc.
“We are also fortunate to run the course at the state-of-the-art Sam Kerr Football Centre, which is one of the best facilities of its kind anywhere in Australia.”

Evans came through the ranks at Perth Glory before playing pro in Hong Kong. He later won the NPL Men’s Gold Medal while at Floreat Athena.
During his time as a player, Evans remained heavily involved in youth coaching and holds an AFC/Football Australia B-Diploma. He spent three years coaching at a private school in Sydney and was assistant coach with the NSW U14 State team, before returning to WA at the start of 2025.
“Youth coaching is my passion and the opportunity to take this role at Football West was perfect. I want to share my knowledge with young players in WA,” he said.
Registrations for the first edition of the Football School are now closed. Please watch this space for upcoming announcements of new dates at the Sam Kerr Football Centre.
