Australia Cup: Armadale, Sorrento into WA last four

Armadale and Sorrento are just one game away from the national stage of the Australia Cup, as well as a place in the Men's State Cup final, following the first of the WA Preliminary quarter-finals tonight.

Goals either side of half-time from Angel Andres and Peter Jacobsz proved enough for Armadale as they won 2-0 away to Inglewood United.

The last time Armadale reached the State Cup final was in 2018, where two goals from Chris Jackson gave them victory. And Jackson was at the double again tonight, this time for Sorrento as the Gulls overcame Division One side Murdoch University Melville 2-1 at Percy Doyle Reserve.

The English striker's first-half opener was soon cancelled out by Patrick Sara. But Jackson had the final word, netting the winner five minutes from time.

The two remaining quarter-final matches take place tomorrow. Cockburn City take on Stirling Macedonia at Dalmatinac Park, and Bayswater City face Western Knights at Frank Drago Reserve.

There will be no NPLM, NPLW or Men's State League first team, Reserve, U21, U20 or U18 fixtures scheduled for 23 July. However, clubs who have make-up games due to Covid postponements may play on 23 July if agreed by both clubs.

9am - Men's U18 State Cup final

11am - Men's Reserve State Cup final

1pm - Women’s State Cup final
