Olympic Kingsway have been rewarded for reaching the last 16 of the Australia Cup with a dream home draw against three-time winners Adelaide United.
Kingsway ended a seven-year wait for WA Member Federation clubs by going beyond the Round of 32 thanks to Tuesday night’s 4-1 win over Edgeworth Eagles.
Now David Tough’s side will welcome A-League heavyweights Adelaide United, who were the first winners of the Australia Cup in 2014 before going back-to-back in 2018 and 2019.
Should the Green Machine pull off an upset they will have another home fixture in the quarter-final against the winners of the tie between Lions FC from Brisbane and Western Sydney Wanderers.
Meanwhile, tonight’s draw has sent Perth Glory to Queensland to take on Moreton City Excelsior in the Round of 16.
Glory have knocked out fellow A-League sides Brisbane Roar and Melbourne City, scoring nine goals in the process.
If they prevail they will be away to either North West Sydney Spirit or Melbourne Victory in the last eight.
And for the super-optimists out there, an all-WA semi-final is on the cards should our two local teams advance to the last four.
