Balcatta, Perth reach NPLW Night Series final

Balcatta Etna will face Perth SC in this Friday’s NPLWA – Women’s Night Series final.

The two sides were convincing winners in their respective semi-finals at Dorrien Gardens last night.

Balcatta beat the Hyundai Football West Academy 4-1, while Perth defeated Fremantle City by the same scoreline.

Lucy Jerram scored two goals inside the opening 20 minutes for Balcatta and they extended their advantage early in the second half when Abbey Meakins notched her seventh goal of the Night Series competition.

Klaudia Houlis reduced the arrears not long after, but Jamie Lee Gale wrapped up the win in the last minute to ensure Balcatta stay on track for a repeat of their 2021 success in this competition.

Standing in their way are 2023 Night Series winners Perth SC, who were equally dominant in their 4-1 defeat of Fremantle.

The Azzurri were also two ahead in the first half thanks to Daisy McAllister and Jess Flannery. Janice Kiama pulled one back for City before the interval, but Perth regrouped in the second half and goals from Violet Longmore and Kim McCartney put gloss on the result.

Balcatta defeated Perth 5-2 in the last game of the group stage earlier this month.
