Bayswater City extended their unbeaten run to a dozen matches after storming to a 4-2 success over Sorrento FC in Round 12 of the 2025 NPL WA Men’s competition.
Matty Sparrow’s side led 3-0 at the break and never looked back to record win number 10 this term and remain three points clear of the chasing pack. Sorrento, meanwhile, have lost their past three home matches but remain five points clear of the automatic relegation spot.
NPLM RESULTS, FIXTURES & STANDINGS
The visitors went in front on a quarter of an hour after Neil Kilkenny fouled Cameron Teece in the box. Pat Loughrey sent goalkeeper Dave Keenan the wrong way from the spot-kick.
Sean McManus’ clever first-time lob over a stranded Keenan doubled the lead, before Tom Southgate’s near-post header from a Declan Hughes corner had Baysie in control at the break. Then minutes after the restart, McManus’ cross was cleared straight to Chris Jackson who struck the fourth against his former side.
That was basically job done for the leaders, despite Scott Robertson’s neat backheel finish and a close-range header from Phoenix Lee reducing the margin of defeat.

Olympic Kingsway remain second after a 3-1 derby win at Stirling Macedonia which made it four wins in a row for David Tough’s side.
Two goals in three first-half minutes ignited the reigning champions into action as a flowing team move finished with Tyler Garner slipping through for full-back Lebib Lebib to net from a tight angle.
Laat Mathiang arrived late in the box to add a second from close range, before Stirling pulled one back before half time when Callum McKenzie struck a low free-kick through the visitors' wall and in.
Kingsway cemented victory in the final couple of minutes when Mathiang shot past keeper James Bosdet as they stayed on the heels of Bayswater, while Stirling are now eight points off fourth spot.
Both Stirling and Olympic are in Hahn Australia Cup action this week. Stirling host Division One Inglewood United on Tuesday while on Wednesday Olympic are away at Balcatta Etna. The two winners will advance to the national Round of 32.

Meanwhile, third-place Perth Glory also won as a 2-1 defeat of Fremantle City at Hilton Park saw them solidify their position in the top four.
The hosts hit the front on 34 minutes when Charlie Chechlacz’s inswinging corner bypassed everyone and bounced in off the far post.
Glory had an equaliser in first-half added time thanks to Sebastian Despotovski, who added to his collection of stunning goals this season with a long-range curler.
Freo were looking for points to move clear of the league’s bottom two places and their cause was aided when Christian Pullella collected a 72nd-minute red card.
Glory had other ideas, though, and scored the winner moments later when Gio De Abreu beat Luke Radonich to Despotovski’s ball over the top and showed composure to lift it first-time over the keeper for all three points.

Elsewhere, Perth RedStar moved back into the top four thanks to two first-half goals in a 2-0 win over Western Knights.
RedStar led after six minutes when Theo Leeming showed quick feet in the area and fired high into the roof of the net from the corner of the six-yard box.
It was then 2-0 when Daryl Nicol beat goalkeeper Sam Reilly to Oliver Leeming’s long ball, with Benson Nsegetse alert to finish into a vacant net. That was enough to give RedStar a fifth successive win, while Knights remain firmly in mid-table after a first loss in five.
Armadale are now a point outside the top four in fifth after dropping points in a 2-2 draw with bottom side Floreat Athena.
All the goals were scored in a frantic final 18 minutes with the hosts ahead following a nicely constructed move down the right which led to a Yannick Dao own goal.
Alun Vernals’ side turned it around with two quick goals putting them on course for victory. Luke Collins looped in a header when Igor Cvijanovic’s corner came his way at the back post, before Golden Boot leader Pieter Jacobsz capitalised on a mix-up in the home defence to net for a sixth straight game.
That scoreline had the Army maintaining a position in the top four, but things changed late on when Floreat were awarded a 94th minute penalty after a challenge on Ali Mohamed. Noah Shamaki confidently dispatched the spot-kick to rescue what may prove to be an important point, as winless Athena closed the gap on second-bottom Fremantle to four points.

Finally, Balcatta and Perth SC were unable to end month-long winless runs in the league after a 2-2 draw at Home Group Stadium.
Balcatta led early in the second period when Daniel Ghinea latched onto Declan Hudson’s through ball and put into the back of the net.
Josh Cala arrived to finish Ethan Banks’ cross from just inside the box, before Sam Riak bundled in an Abdul Osman corner as the Azzurri hit back to lead in the driving rain. But Ghinea’s deflected free-kick in stoppage time earned a late point for Balcatta, who are a point clear of the relegation play-off spot, while Perth sits three points off fourth.
