North Perth United are celebrating a double after they added the Belt Up Amateur Cup to the Amateur Premier Division league title.
United beat Olympic Kingsway 2-1 in Saturday’s cup final at the Sam Kerr Football Centre.
Jason Winter’s team had to wait until the 78th minute before they broke the deadlock. Lawson Smith met Alex Wild’s corner with a powerful header and though defender David Gordon blocked the effort on the line, the ball struck the back of keeper Daniel Higgins and went into the goal.
North Perth doubled their lead a couple of minutes later when Wild sidefooted home after Eoin Haverty’s shot had struck the post.
Olympic reduced the deficit four minutes from time as Gordon headed in an Elliot Rose corner, but Jason Stern’s side were unable to find a second goal which would have taken the game to extra-time.

In the Belt Up Amateur Reserves Cup final, Emerald FC defeated league champions North Perth United 2-1.
Things could not have started much worse for Emerald. They had Aaron Fretwell sent off after only 14 minutes following a high challenge on Jack Hurrell, then eight minutes later the North Perth player slid in to meet Trent Meyers’ pass and opened the scoring.
Emerald were level before half-time as Jake Stevenson turned home Keith Weekes’ cross to finish off a well-crafted move.
Then on the hour, Cillian Doyle brilliantly slipped in Sachin Bhandari and he rounded United keeper Ashley Cooper and scored what proved to be the winner.

The first game of the day was the Women’s League Cup and there was more Irish delight as East Perth of Division One overcame second division Wembley Downs 1-0.
The only goal arrived on 61 minutes when Kate Hurley crossed for the unmarked Megan Cockhill to volley home.
