Football West News
Football West held its 2023 Annual General Meeting at Ashfield Sports Club on Wednesday night.
Chairman Sherif Andrawes and Director Richard Marshall were both elected for a second term, while former Perth Glory striker Chris Harold was elected onto the Board for the first time. He replaces former Socceroos keeper Jason Petkovic, who retired after serving two consecutive terms.
Mr Andrawes joined the Board in 2012 and became Chair for the first time in April 2019. Mr Marshall was elected to the Board in 2019.
Also at the meeting, Football West welcomed three new Life Members - Nick Tana, Eddie Lennie and Phil Kelly (full story here).
And Football Australia CEO James Johnson, who was in WA to announce the three Matildas Olympic Qualifying matches, presented an update from Football Australia and took questions from the floor.

Chris Harold
Chris Harold is a legal associate, currently practising in personal injury litigation at WA insurance law firm McCabes.
Having retired from professional football in 2020 at the age of 28, Mr Harold was promoted to the position of Associate in June 2022, less than 18 months after being admitted.
Prior to starting at McCabes, he completed his College of Law as well as assisting the PFA in negotiating the players’ Collective Bargaining Agreement during the pandemic and working to ensure players’ contracts were honoured during that time. He has served on the Disciplinary & Ethics Tribunal for Football West and is currently a panel member for the A-League Disciplinary and Ethics Committee.
“It is an honour to be invited to join the Board of Football West and to be able to play a role in helping shape football going forward,” he said.
“I was a player at Perth Glory for eight years and also played in the NPLWA - Men’s competition with Perth RedStar for a season. Through my time in Western Australia, I have developed a real connection with the local football scene.”
Mr Andrawes said: “It is a privilege to have been re-elected as a Director of Football West, especially at a time when there is so much excitement in the world of football in Western Australia, such as the FIFA Women’s World Cup and the move to the new State Football Centre.
“I would like to congratulate Richard on his re-election and congratulate Chris. He is not long out of playing, and will bring a lot of energy and enthusiasm to the role, as well as his great legal expertise.
“I also want to place on record my gratitude to Jason for his service. His knowledge of the game and feel for football has been a tremendous barometer for Football West.”
- A special resolution was approved by the Members to amend Football West’s constitution at the AGM. This was regarding a rewording of Article 10.11, 10.12 and 10.21, concerning the nominations committee and the provision of a third term for Directors.
