Two goals in the final 10 minutes from substitute Danny Douglas saw Stirling Macedonia snatch the Men's State Cup from the grasp of holders Olympic Kingsway at the Sam Kerr Football Centre today.

Olympic were leading 1-0 through Ryan Lowry's early header and should have already made the game safe heading into the last few moments.

Instead, they left the door open for Stirling to hit them with a late one-two and that is what transpired.

First, a massive scramble in which Bayley Brown-Montgomery had a header blocked and Samuel Dweh's shot was deflected onto the bar, was eventually turned home by Douglas in the 86th minute.

Then four minutes into stoppage time, a deep free-kick was hooked across goal and the unmarked Douglas nodded past Adrian Sinagra to spark wild Stirling celebrations.

"I came on and just went up front to see if I could do something, and it worked out," said Douglas, whose match-winning salvo earned him the Stan Lazaridis Medal as player of the match.

"It was good to finally get a trophy.

"We thought time was running out, but once we got one we felt we could go and win it."

Lowry put Olympic in front on eight minutes when he headed in Mitch Oxborrow's header. Then Oxborrow hit the bar with a terrific curling effort.

Their best chance to extend the lead came 20 minutes after the break. Lebib Lebib's header from Tyler Garner's pinpoint centre fell to Joe Hobson, but the striker dragged his shot wide of a gaping goal.

The Green Machine were left to rue that miss, as Ago Mujic's side avenged last season's Top Four Cup final when Olympic snatched the trophy at the death.
