The Gold Fields WA State Futsal teams enjoyed a respectable return on Day One of the National Futsal Championships in Melbourne with four wins, a draw and four defeats.
The WA Boys U15s hit form at the State Netball and Hockey Centre in Parkville as they overran hosts Victoria 6-1. Milos Banic (2), Bastian Dominguez Rubina (2), Blake Levin and David Klimoski got the goals for Anthony Fico’s side.

In the Open Men’s category, WA also got the better of Victoria (Tigers) with an exciting 4-2 win. Stewart Kerr, Amar Jehel, Luke Ross and Charlie Garnham were on the scoresheet as coach Nestor Fonseca and his players enjoyed a successful start to the tournament.
One of the most entertaining matches of the opening day was in the Boys U12s with WA and Queensland (Maroon) drawing 5-5. Ji Hu Jeong, Santiago Palta and Tomas Jesus were among the scorers for the WA side coached by Umbi Di Tullio.
And they followed that up in style, coming from behind at the break to beat Capital Football 2-1. Jaksen Brown and Jesus the scorers.

Joining them in the winner’s circle were the WA Girls U13s, who had a fantastic 2-0 win over Victoria (White). Emily Guerda and Olivia King struck in the first half to ensure Salv Todaro’s team took the three points.
In both the Boys U13s and U14s, Queensland were far too strong for the WA, and it was a similar story in the Youth Men as WA went down to Victoria despite Naveed Juma’s effort. The WA Open Women lost to NSW (Thunder) 3-0.
