EOIs: New Football South West body seeks interim board members

The bold restructuring of football in the South West continues with the formation of an interim board for the new body.

Football West is now seeking expressions of interest from dedicated individuals to join the board of Football South West.

Members of the interim board will play a crucial role in laying the foundations for a strong and inclusive future for the sport.

This includes providing strategic direction during the establishment phase while supporting the development of Football South West’s constitution and governance framework.

Key responsibilities for board members:

  • Provide strategic direction during the establishment phase
  • Support the development of Football South West’s constitution and governance framework
  • Represent the interests of football across the region with fairness and integrity
  • Help define the priorities and structure of the new organisation
  • Promote transparency, collaboration, and unity among all football stakeholders in the South West
  • Ensure the organisation meets its compliance obligations
  • Participate in decision-making that benefits football across all levels—community, clubs, players, referees, volunteers

Football West is seeking individuals from within the South West football community who bring strong personal values, leadership qualities and relevant experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Corporate Finance
  • Media, Marketing and Communications
  • Government Relations & External Affairs
  • Board or C-Level Experience
  • Strategic Planning
  • Game Development
  • Corporate Governance
  • Legal and/or Human Resources
  • Strategic Business Planning

A diverse mix of perspectives, backgrounds, and lived experience will be important in shaping a sustainable and representative regional football body.

Commitment Expectations

  • Attend and participate in regular meetings (in person or online) during the transition period
  • Support collaborative decision-making and open engagement with clubs and stakeholders
  • Contribute constructively and respectfully to discussions and working groups
  • Uphold the integrity, transparency and purpose of the interim board
  • Act as an advocate for football in the South West region

The restructuring of football in the South West is the result of the strong commitment and collaboration from the local football community.

The Reform Project will be owned and driven by the South West football community for its members, commercial partners, volunteers and other stakeholders.
