Football West Alex Novatsis on 2023 AFC Diploma of Sports Management course
Football West’s relations with Asian football associations are set to be strengthened after Business Development Manager Alex Novatsis was accepted onto the 2023 AFC Diploma of Sports Management course.
Mr Novatsis, one of only three Australians to receive a place, said: “I’m thrilled to get on the AFC Diploma of Sports Management course.
“In the next few years Football West will be working even more closely with our partners in Asia, especially once the State Football Centre is up and running.
“It is a great opportunity to build relations with the member associations in Asia.
“This course allows students to hone the skill sets needed for the core areas of football management and build industry knowledge.”
The AFC Diploma of Sports Management course is over 11 months and involves 460 hours of study and practical work. The 12 modules include strategic financial management, media, sports law and club licensing.
“As well Asia, this course will also enable me to increase my ability to help our clubs in the many different aspects of football,” Mr Novatsis said.
“I’m grateful to Football West for their support, especially CEO Jamie Harnwell, General Manager – Football Perry Ielati and Policy and Advocacy Manager Gareth Naven.”
Mr Harnwell said: “Football West is delighted for Alex to be accepted on to the course.
“We value the importance of giving our team these opportunities, and what he gains on the course will ultimately be for the benefit of the WA football community.”
