Football West continues to drive Belt Up message

Football West is delighted to announce a new three-year partnership with the Insurance Commission and to share its Belt Up road safety campaign.

The campaign promotes public awareness about the importance of wearing a seatbelt and educates the community on how to ensure there are fewer and less serious injuries on WA roads.

This in turn leads to fewer insurance claims, incurring lower costs.

The partnership will raise awareness of the Belt Up message across the following competitions:

  • Men’s Amateur League
  • Men’s Amateur Reserves League
  • Men’s Masters League
  • Men’s Metropolitan League
  • Amateur Night Series

The Insurance Commission will provide 2,000 footballs to clubs and associations across regional and metropolitan Western Australia. An additional 500 bespoke designed footballs will be distributed to the Indigenous community to celebrate NAIDOC Week.

Football West CEO James Curtis said: “We are delighted to continue to work with the Insurance Commission on the Belt Up campaign.

"Football West is well positioned to engage with our football community to drive the importance of seatbelt safety across Western Australia.

“Football West will deliver an integrated message campaign tailored for all road users to increase awareness and drive behavioral change.”

In 2019, 95 people who were not wearing a seatbelt were killed or seriously injured in a crash. They could have been your teammates, your family, your friends. Please don’t forget to Belt Up.
