Football West was thrilled to host the Malaysian Consul-General in Perth this week.

Nur Eliza Jemal Zainal was accompanied by Education Consul Hafiz Ismail and Vice-Consul Azmir Ibrahim for a tour of the Sam Kerr Football Centre.

The delegation was hosted by Football West Chief Executive Officer Jamie Harnwell, Chief Operating Officer Perry Ielati, and Asian Engagement Advisor Robbie Gaspar. Discussions included investment and trade opportunities, the importance of education, and the power of football to build people-to-people connections.

The visit also provided an opportunity to highlight Football West’s Asian Engagement Strategy, which focuses on strengthening international partnerships through football.

"It was a privilege for Football West to welcome the Malaysian Consul-General in Perth and a good opportunity to explore ideas for the future," Mr Harnwell said.

"Football West has a long-established relationship with Malaysia, including the Borneo Cup and sending our State Amateur Team to Kuala Lumpur."

Football West would like to acknowledge the Western Australia Government for its support of the Asian Engagement Strategy.
