FREE All-Female Foundation of Football coaching course

Women and girls keen to get involved in coaching are invited to sign up for a FREE two-night course.

Football West is inviting registrations for an All-Female Foundation of Football coaching course.

The course will take place at the Sam Kerr Football Centre on Monday 31 March and Monday 7 April (5.30-9pm both nights).

Applicants must be at least 14 years old.

WHAT IS THE FOUNDATION OF FOOTBALL COURSE?

The Foundation of Football course is for individuals embarking on their coaching journey, as well as parents and volunteer coaches frequently called upon to guide young players in grassroots football.

The course equips people with essential skills for creating a safe and positive learning environment for players.

The central focus is to empower coaches to establish a safe and enjoyable environment for young players. It offers guidance on conducting engaging training sessions and provides pre-designed training plans for an entire season, alleviating coaches from the task of creating them themselves.

The practical component of the course encompasses various aspects of the game, such as playing formats and fundamental skills like dribbling, passing, receiving, and finishing; however, the primary emphasis is on coaching methods that foster an appropriate learning environment.

Football West Manager - Female Football & Advocacy Tash Rigby said: “It is so important that we provide opportunities to women to pursue their journey in coaching so that they can continue to develop, to contribute positively to the game, act as role models and increase the visibility of female coaches in Western Australia.”

Football West would like to acknowledge the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries for supporting the FREE All-Female Foundations of Football course as part of the Female Football Community Legacy Program.
