Gold Fields Challenge Cup: Women's State Team named for Glory clash

Football West is pleased to announce the Gold Fields WA Women’s State squad for this Sunday’s Gold Fields Challenge Cup game against Perth Glory.

2024 NPLWA – Women’s title-winners Perth RedStar make up the bulk of the squad with eight of the 17 players named for the Dorrien Gardens clash coming from the champions.

RedStar captain Sarah Carroll and goalkeeper Gabby Dal Busco are joined by another former Glory player Caitlin Doeglas. Japanese midfield duo Reina Kagami and Momoko Sakairi, defenders Andreia Teixeira and Quyen Doan and big-game striker Olivia Wood complete the RedStar contingent.

The other keeper in the squad, Rebecca Bennett, is one of a trio of Balcatta Etna representatives along with Jamie Lee-Gale and Abbey Meakins. All three are ex-Glory players, as is Abbey Green of Fremantle City. Green is joined by team-mates Annabelle Leek and Sofie Osborne, as well as Perth SC pair Daisy McAllister and Sam Mathers, plus Stella Zampogna of Subiaco.

Carroll and Gale are co-captains.

And it’s great to help the Glory women prepare for their upcoming A-League season.”
