The Gold Fields WA State Boys U14s will play for gold at the National Youth Championships in Coffs Harbour on Friday after they defeated Victoria 1-0 in their semi-final today.

But the U15s were unable to make it a one-two for WA after they relinquished a half-time lead to go down 2-1 against NSW Metro at C.eX International Stadium.

U14 semi-finals

Alex Patrascu was the hero for Western Australia after he fired the Gold Fields WA State Boys Team into the grand final. The Perth Glory player followed up to fire home after Cristiano Farfan had seen his penalty strike the foot of the post. Despite Victoria’s determination to change the tempo in the second half, WA maintained possession to secure the 1-0 win.

Queensland and Northern NSW were evenly matched in their first half trading goals in a high intensity slugfest. Queensland burst into the second session looking hungrier but unable to convert until Charlie Parkin headed his team to a 2-1 advantage.

U15 semi-finals

There was disappointment for the Gold Fields WA State Boys U15s as they went down 2-1 to NSW Metro.

With the expectations of being the largest football state on their backs, NSW lined up again Western Australia. The first half was a fierce fight only separated by WA’s James Overy when he buried a penalty after being taken down in the box.

A piece of Noah Mathie brilliance locked scores at 1-1 and with it the momentum swung firmly towards NSW. The home side slotted a late penalty to secure their finals place sparking celebrations from their squad mates.

Victoria played Queensland in the other U15s semi-final, which the Maroons won 4-3 on penalties following a 2-2.

In two of the crossover games today, Western Australia U15s Yellow 15s drew 1-1 Tasmania, Perth RedStar's Roland Ballah netting for WA, while the WA 14s Yellow beat Tasmania 2-0 with Ollie Evans of RedStar and Joondalup United's Hudson Burn on target.
