Hammers hit six but Bennie's a bright hope for Glory

It was a mix of club colours, banners and excited screams around Optus Stadium as hundreds of kids took part in the junior parade ahead of the West Ham United-Perth Glory game.

And there were a few local youngsters on the pitch who made themselves known, with Australia U17 international Daniel Bennie capping a terrific display as a half-time substitute with an excellent goal.

Jaylan Pearman and Andriano Lebib were two other Glory teenagers who caught the eye, but in the end West Ham's quality told and the Premier League side ran out 6-2 winners.

The Irons were in front inside two minutes via an own goal from Glory's Darryl Lachman, and the visitors doubled their advantage through Gianluca Scamacca's penalty.

Scamacca then missed a sitter, but it wasn't all one-way traffic and a second own goal, this time at the other end from Luizao, made it 2-1 at half-time. Indeed, either side of the break Hammers keeper Lukasz Fabianski was called on to keep Glory from adding to their score.

Substitute Jarrod Bowen's smart flick early in the second half restored the two-goal advantage and the England international then crossed for Emerson Palmieri to head the fourth. The excellent Joel Anasmo set up Bennie, who finished in style, before Daniel Chesters and Bowen again rounded out the scoring.
