Hyundai Women's League Division One set for thrilling finale

Just three points separate the top four teams heading into the final five rounds of the Hyundai Women’s League Division One.

Mandurah City lead the table, a point in front of Subiaco. Hamersley Rovers are a further point back, followed by Perth AFC in fourth.

The only team from the leading quartet to win on the weekend were third-place Hamersley. A hat-trick from Christiane Astorp helped last season’s champions to a 6-0 victory over bottom side MUM FC, with Royan Norman, Belle Smith and Jasmine Turney-Edwards also on target.

Perth AFC and Mandurah finished 0-0 on Friday, while Subiaco also played out a goalless draw away to Fremantle City who can put themselves in the mix if they win their rescheduled Round 12 clash against UWA Nedlands on 22 August.

UWA were the other team to win this weekend, 3-2 over Sorrento FC. Holly Hoare gave UWA an early lead and though Jody Brough levelled, Vera Beese had re-established the hosts’ advantage by the break. Rhianna Burgess made it 3-1 soon after the restart, then Emma Pitt threw the Gulls a lifeline. However, the visitors wee unable to salvage a point.
