Football West would like to share the following information with registered players considering moving clubs.
Amateur players, including Reserves, U20s and U18s
This applies to leagues that are considered Amateur and only Amateur players may be registered in these leagues.
As per the community competition rules Article 11.7
7. A player who has previously been validly registered on PlayFootball in the current season for a club may only register for another club in the current season before 5pm WST on 30 June in that competition year, in accordance with and subject to compliance with the National Registration, Status and Transfer Regulations.
8. The movement of players between clubs as described in Paragraph 7 does not apply to MiniRoos, 12s, Junior League and Junior Girls League competitions. However, these competitions may be subject to the National Registration, Status and Transfer Regulations.
If you have been previously registered with a club in Australia, you will be able to join a new club only before 5pm on 30 June 2024.
Before a player can be registered at a new club, they must first deregister via PlayFootball from their existing club. For an Amateur this process can take seven (7) days from the request to deregister, so we advise anyone seeking such a move to begin the process before 22 June to ensure sufficient time to conclude the deregistration process and enable you to validly register at a new club.
Additional considerations from the National Registration, Status and Transfer Regulations (NRSTR)
Important information for players who have already registered and played for two (2) clubs this season
Rule 6.13
(d) A Player may be registered for a maximum of three (3) clubs in each form of the game during a season. During this period, the player is eligible to play in matches (other than friendly or trial matches) for only two (2) clubs in each form of the game. This article 6.13(d) does not affect the operation of article 6.12(a).
Important information for players who were last registered as a professional but wish to move to Amateur status:
Rule 5.3 Reacquisition of Amateur Status
a. A player registered as a professional cannot reregister as an Amateur until at least 30 days after his or her last match as a professional.
Please consider these player movement rules and the competition rules for the leagues you wish to move to so that you can ensure your eligibility and ability to move and avoid any disappointment after this period.
