Inter-divisional play-off finals spots decided

Fremantle City will face Joondalup City for a place in the NPL next season after Saturday's inter-divisional play-off semi-final, second legs.

Fremantle beat Kinglsey Westside 1-0 at Hilton Park on Saturday to advance to the final on away goals after the tie finished 2-2 on aggregate.

The home side went close in the first half when Charlie Chechlacz headed against the bar. Then five minutes into the second period, Chechlacz floated over a cross for Charlie Betts tonod home for the decisive goal.

Joondalup City, who were promoted to Division One through the play-offs a year ago, did things more comfortably as they knocked out UWA Nedlands 5-3 on aggregate after the second leg ended 2-2.

Leading 3-1 from the first leg, UWA failed to deal with a simple delivery into the box and Mason Gallagher smashed home the loose ball to leave the home side three goals adrift.

Roberto Soares scored for the hosts soon after, but any nerves City may have had evaporated thanks to Jaxon Temata's goal as he dribbled through the Uni defence. Iljas Ahmedov's late curler at least meant UWA were not beaten on the day but the team that finished the season as runners-up were again second best over the two legs.

Cockburn City and Kalamunda City will meet in the Division One/Division Two play-off final.

Cockburn came from behind to beat East Perth 2-1 in the second leg, 4-2 on aggregate. Things looked promising for East Perth when they levelled the tie after City keeper Zayde Free drilled a clearance straight at Ryan McCready and the ball flew straight into the goal. But a back-post tap-in from Oliver Carr and James Bourne's excellent chip ensured Cockburn progressed to the final.

There, they will meet Kalamunda City, who overturned a one-goal deficit with a 2-0 victory against Forrestfield United, 3-2 on aggrgate. The goals were headers from corners and came in the final half-hour, the first from Andrea Erbetta followed by Farruh Mavlonov's clincher.

Both finals will take place at the Sam Kerr Football Centre this Saturday, along with two Division Two/Amateur Premier play-off finals.

Swan United, who finished bottom of State League Division Two, take on North Beach, runners-up in the Belt Up Amateur Premier Division.

The other game is between Wanneroo City, who came second bottom in Division Two, and Morley Windmills, who ended the Amateur Premier campaign in third.

North Perth United, who won the Belt Up Amateur Premier Division, declined the opportunity to be promoted.
