Western Knights are the new pacesetters in the Men’s State League Division One after a 5-0 win away to Rockingham City lifted them two points clear at the summit.
A screamer from Denzel Tshuma got Knights off the mark at Lark Hill before Albert Luwi continued his run of scoring in every game this season with a tap-in from Alex Kretowicz’s cross.
Shay Donovan then got on the scoresheet before half-time as Adam Kostrencic’s team threatened to run away with it.
Kretowicz finished with aplomb to bring up goal number four, and with 10 minutes left, Ben Campbell wrapped it up in style with a curling strike.
Murdoch University Melville are second and remain unbeaten as Taj Bingwa’s thumping strike gave them a 3-2 win away at Joondalup United.
Two late goals did the job from MUM FC who came from two goals down to record another impressive win following last week’s success against Mandurah.
Andrew Flint’s diving header from Elliot Tattersall’s cross got United moving before James Harmer continued his fine form with a close-range header moments later.
The visitors hit back through Christos Vaenas before the break, and they made it 2-2 on 88 minutes when Iljas Ahmedov poked the ball past Luke Martino after the Joondalup keeper had come off his line.
There was still time for a late hero and that was Bingwa as the youngster lashed fiercely into the roof of the net to spark visitor celebrations.
On Thursday night, two goals from Leigh Griffiths helped Mandurah City return to winning ways in an entertaining 3-2 win over Fremantle City.
The former Celtic striker netted from close range in the first half to put the Dolphins in front, before doubling Mandurah’s lead from the penalty spot just before the hour mark.
City responded immediately with Hamza Hina breaking the offside trap to score and halve the deficit. But Joe O’Brien’s sixth goal in three games proved to be the winner five minutes from the end, despite a Hina consolation on 90 minutes.
Having lost in a seven-goal thriller to Freo last week, Subiaco were on the right end of a high-scoring game this week as they prevailed 6-3 over UWA Nedlands.
In a crazy opening at UWA Sports Park, the visitors came from behind to lead 4-1 after only 14 minutes on Saturday afternoon. Toby Robertson’s low finish put his side up inside two minutes, but Brendan Griffiths hit back with a prompt response for Subi following a third corner in quick succession.
Gavin Knight then completed a fast turnaround for the visitors with an expertly taken lob, before two smart finishes from Aaron McGuirk suddenly had Michael Janssen’s side in a strong position.
A terrific low drive from Zachary Browne pulled one back after 20 minutes. Then moments before the break and remarkably it was 4-3 when Max Blackshaw was on hand to net a chance he could not miss after Browne had thumped the post from 30 yards.
But an own goal from the unlucky Robertson with 11 minutes left gave Subiaco breathing room and Knight strolled in to finish firmly and cap a crazy day of action.

Dianella White Eagles collected their first win of the season 2-1 on the road at Forrestfield United.
Two first-half goals did the job at Crazy Domains Stadium for the away side, who went in front after only 30 seconds through Angel Andres Rivera’s opportunistic strike.
David Heagney made it 2-0 Dianella midway through the first period and it proved to be the winner, even though Thang Sangpichung volleyed home a minute after half-time to give the hosts hope. They could not find an equaliser and sit tenth after three games.
Gosnells City also collected their first point of the campaign when they drew 0-0 at Gwelup Croatia.
The promoted side remain bottom of the league while Gwelup sit eighth following the draw, with Charlie Breen hitting the crossbar the closest call for the home side.

There was another impressive recovery in the late kick-off as Maddington-Kalamunda White City came from two goals to draw 2-2 with Swan United and register their first point in Division Two.
Jake Fritchley and an own goal had Swan in pole position, but Farruh Mavlonov reduced the arrears, and Cristian Zuluaga’s 91st minute leveller pegged back the visitors.
