La Galia scores four as Freo begin State League Night Series with 7-0 win

2022 Men’s State League Night Series winners Murdoch University Melville began this year’s competition with a 5-0 win over Carramar Shamrock Rovers.
MUM FC’s brushed aside their Division Two opponents in the Group D clash with Christos Vaenas (2), Francisco Caballero, Moses Macauley and an own goal sealing the result.
Also at Wanneroo in Group D, Joondalup City ran out 5-2 winners over UWA Nedlands. Ethan Casey, John Petrie, Louis Carlish, Liam Peacock and Emilio Chacon scored for City, while Jacob Turner and Luke Salas replied for UWA.
It was even more one-sided in the Group E fixtures at Wanneroo. Dianella White Eagles thumped hosts Wanneroo City 6-0, David Heagney (2), Kristian Despotovski (2), Parviz Shirzadi and Jack Taylor getting the goals. Meanwhile, Western Knights defeated Balga 5-0. Alex Kretowicz claimed a hat-trick, with Owen Goodliffe and Adam Harris also scoring.
The stand-out individual display came in Group B at Ellenbrook Sports Hub, where Oliver La Galia scored four times in Fremantle City's 7-0 thrashing of Quinns. Hayden Stevens, Alex Mclean and Brian Patterson were also on the scoresheet.
Also in Group B, Morley Windmills overcame Gosnells City 3-1. Stev Purton, Musa Bangura and Jordan Nikolajevic scored for Morley, while Jordan Junco got City’s goal.
In Group A, Maddington White City marked their first game since promotion from the Amateur Premier Division by beating first division Joondalup United 2-1. Farruh Mavlonov and Gaston Bazet put Maddington two up, before Jay Lang struck for United.
Also at Ellenbrook Sports Hub, Gwelup Croatia, who were relegated from the NPL last season, were 2-0 winners over Kingsley Westside. Two goals from Charles Breen, including a penalty, were the difference in the Group A clash.
The other four matches were at Crazy Domains Stadium.
In Group C, two goals apiece for John Baird and Hamish Van Dieken gave Mandurah City a 4-0 win over Curtin University, while hosts Forrestfield United began with a 2-1 win against Canning City as David McGuinness got the winner.
It was a similar scoreline in Group F with Rockingham City beating Swan United. Jayden Leader and Joseph Moss were the scorers for City, while Rhys Loxley struck for Swan. The only draw of the weekend came in Group F, as Ashfield and Subiaco finished 1-1. Benjamin Entwistle put Ashfield ahead, with Adrian Manno earning Subi a point.
