Late own goal sees Balcatta reach Top Four Cup final
Balcatta Etna have the chance to add the 2025 NPLWA - Women's Top Four Cup to their Night Series success after reaching the final.
Peter Rakic's side beat NPLW champions Perth SC 2-1 at Dorrien Gardens. They now face Perth RedStar in Saturday's decider at the Sam Kerr Football Centre.
Former Azzurri defender Alyssa Van Heurck ghosted in to give Balcatta the lead, with Perth levelling 12 minutes from time through a brilliant free-kick from set-piece specialist Kim McCartney.
However, Balcatta won it via a free-kick of their own as the unfortunate Sam Mathers, under pressure from Frankie Murray, headed into her own net from Izzy Foletta's excellent delivery.
The result meant Balcatta reached the final from fourth, following up their 4-3 defeat of Hyundai Football West Academy on Saturday. Meanwhile, Perth SC were beaten in both their matches, having lost on penalties to RedStar.
