David Sarria was the hero for Maddington White City after his goal five minutes into stoppage time gave his side a 4-3 win over Joondalup United and capped a crazy finish at Nikola Tesla Reserve.
Sunday’s win put Maddington two points clear in the Belt Up Amateur Premier Division.
Yet it looked so different with Joondalup leading 2-1 with just four minutes remaining, Adam Taylor and Adam Giannasi netting for the visitors.
Then Nicolas Pardo grabbed his second for City to make it 2-2, only for Adam Rogers to restore United’s lead in the 88th minute.
Back came Maddington and on 90 minutes Gaston Bazet struck to level the scores again. Yet the hosts had not finished there, and deep into added-on time Sarria found a winner.

With UWA Nedlands only drawing with Wembley Downs and Quinns losing at home to North Perth United, the result allowed Maddington to open a gap on their nearest rivals. Joondalup, meanwhile, are still waiting for their first league win of the season.
Second-place UWA drew 2-2 at Wembley. Lachlan Chamberlain put the hosts in front on 11 minutes, before second-half goals from Alejandro Ayala and Lawrence Lewis gave UWA the advantage. However, they were unable to hold on to the lead for long and James Kilbee earned a point for Wembley Downs.
Quinns were one of three teams level on 12 points going into Round Six but they were strictly second best at Gumblossom Park on Sunday, crashing 4-0 to 2020 champions North Perth. Javier Mestre scored before the interval, while David Byrne (2) and Jean-Marc D’Avray got in on the act in the second half.
South West Phoenix have moved into fourth spot on the back of a 6-1 win at bottom-of-the-table Hamersley Rovers. Robert Klenkoski put Rovers ahead early but by half-time they were 3-1 down after Lydon Hodgkiss and Lee Stewart (2) turned the game around. It remained 3-1 until 10 minutes from time, then the wheels came off for Rovers. Jarrad Mort made it 4-1 then in added time the Phoenix player scored two more to complete his hat-trick.
Kwinana United dropped to fifth after letting a 3-1 lead slip against Queens Park. Two goals in a minute from Glen Smith and Sean Troup had the 2-0 up after 11 minutes and although Hakim Rezaie pulled one back from the spot, United soon re-established a two-goal cushion thanks to Dominic Sumner. Queens Park skipper Rezaie converted his second penalty on half-time, and seven minutes into he second half Leigh Bridger made it 3-3.
Jaguar finished their match with nine men but still won 4-2 against Leeming Strikers, who also had a player sent off. Akuei Guot, Conor O’Driscoll (2) and Mabor Thomas scored for Jaguar, while Kieran Witt got two for Strikers.
