Men's State Amateur Team set for three-game Malaysia tour

The Gold Fields WA Men's State Amateur Team are returning to Malaysia next week for the first time since 2019.

The side, under head coach Ein Eric, will play three matches.

The WA team start with a match against Selangor FC, who are currently second in the Malaysian Super League.

Then they take on PDRM FC, who sit sixth in the Malaysian top flight.

And they finish with a game against the KL Amateur All Stars.

The players received their State Team shirts from Football West General Manager - Football David Lewis at the official shirt presentation at the Sam Kerr Football Centre this week.

Football West Football Projects Manager Alex Novatsis said it was exciting to be returning to Malaysia.

“It is great for the Amateur players to represent the state once more following Covid,” said Novatsis, who is the team manager.

“We have always been well received on our trips to Malaysia, but we are under no illusions about how strong the opposition will be.”

He added: “The trip is in line with Football West’s Asian Engagement Strategy, which is supported by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and we thank the DLGSC for its support.

“We would like to thank the State Team name sponsor Gold Fields Australia.”
