Bayswater City moved two points clear at the top of the NPLWA – Men’s competition after a 3-0 victory at Western Knights gave them a fourth win from four outings in 2025.
Matty Sparrow’s side couldn’t have made a better start when Cam Teece’s first-minute nod down was lifted over the onrushing Sam Reilly by Sean McManus, the Scot’s third goal in consecutive games.
NPLM RESULTS, FIXTURES & STANDINGS
The visitors doubled their lead when Reilly miscontrolled Asher Hwight’s back-pass and the ball rolled tamely into the net for an own goal.
Knights finished the game with 10 men after Jesse Lazzaro’s challenge on Gyles Davies resulted in a straight red card. The visitors put some late gloss on the scoreline when Luke Palmateer headed in Pat Loughrey’s corner to leave Bayswater with the league’s only remaining 100% record ahead of this week’s break for the Hahn Australia Cup.
Perth Glory are in second place after they scored four second-half goals to defeat 10-man Floreat Athena 4-0 at the Sam Kerr Football Centre.
Glory struck their first three minutes after the restart when Athena failed to clear a Sebastian Despotovski corner and Max Argent finished a scramble in the box.
There was nothing ugly about Glory’s second goal a minute later, as Giovanni De Abreu pinched the ball in midfield and curled a classy finish into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
Ali Mohamed was shown a straight red card for a last-man challenge a minute after coming on as a substitute, and Despostovski bent home the resulting free-kick for 3-0.
Despotovski then converted from the penalty spot following a Noah Kanzi handball as Joe Heath’s Glory side continued their strong start to the campaign, while Floreat dropped to the bottom of the division.
Perth SC are also undefeated after four rounds having recorded a strong 3-0 win at Sorrento FC.
Perth were ahead early doors as Michael Scafetta volleyed across the goalkeeper into the corner via the post.
Scafetta had his second later in the first half after a nicely worked team goal, and Sam Riak iced victory late on when finishing David Ninkovich’s cutback.
This was a third win of the season for Kenny Lowe’s side, while Night Series winners Sorrento still await their first three points.
Perth RedStar are off the mark after defeating Olympic Kingsway 3-1 in a result which saw the Green Machine lose their 100% start and drop to fourth.
RedStar were up and running with just two minutes on the clock when Sam Pollard’s cross was nodded in by Theo Leeming. Daryl Nicol’s free-kick then doubled the lead despite the best efforts of Olympic keeper Adrian Sinagra.
Oliver Leeming was sent off five minutes from time following a handball on the line, with Mitch Oxborrow scoring from the resulting penalty. But Nicol sealed the win in added time when latching onto Sonny O’Shea’s header.
Armadale are up to fifth after a 2-1 win over Balcatta at Alfred Skeet Reserve made it back-to-back victories for Alun Vernals’ unbeaten side.
Pieter Jacobsz was credited with all three goals, starting with Armadale’s opener after he was teed up by Callum Dobbs.
He doubled his side’s lead from the penalty spot after the referee spotted a handball from Rostyn Griffiths, then inadvertently scored an own goal to give Balcatta a lifeline in the game.
Finally, Stirling Macedonia and Fremantle City are waiting for their first wins after sharing the points in a 2-2 draw at Macedonia Park.
Stirling led 10 minutes in after Aston Montgomery’s determination on the byline saw him pull back for Asher Nelson to sweep in the opener.
Freo turned it around in the first half though as they levelled through Shubham Mokala’s long-range shot before Riley Woodcock’s corner was glanced on by Sam Cook with George Festa turning home at the back post.
Freo could have made it 3-1 with the last kick of the half but Cook’s penalty was saved by James Bosdet. And that proved costly as Stirling equalised in the final five minutes when Kade Fearnall’s corner was headed in by Bayley Brown-Montgomery.
