NPLWA - Men's Night Series semi-finalists decided

The NPLWA - Men's Night Series semi-finals take place on Saturday at Inglewood Stadium.

Armadale will face Olympic Kingsway at 5pm, followed by Inglewood United against Stirling Macedonia at 7pm.

Inglewood and Kingsway both went through from Group B after they played out a 1-1 draw on Sunday.

Calum O'Connell's second-half free-kick earned Kingsway the point they required and meant Perth Glory were knocked out on goal difference. Shubham Mokala struck for Inglewood.

Glory had beaten Cockburn City 5-3 earlier in the night and were relying on an Inglewood win to go through.

Glory were always unlikely to reel in Inglewood but a win would put pressure on Olympic. Jayden Gorman (2), Mitch Oxborrow, Shade Stewart and Joshua Anasmo were Glory's goalscorers as they made sure the outcome in Group B went to the wire.

As for Cockburn, Luka Caceres gave them an early lead, while Ivan Skorich and Friday Zico also scored. But the 2022 State Cup winners' Night Series campaign never really got going.

Stirling joined already-qualified Armadale as the teams to advance from Group A after they defeated Floreat Athena 1-0 at E&D Litis Stadium last Friday.

Calvin Whitney scored the only goal as Stirling took second place in Group A and Floreat dropped out of the top two to finish fourth.

Stirling went into the match knowing only a win would do and Whitney's effort knocked out not one, but two of his former sides. This result killed off Athena's chances, and it also ended Perth SC's hopes of squeezing into the last four.

Perth would have progressed if the Stirling-Floreat match had ended in a draw. Earlier in the night they had stayed in contention by defeating Armadale 2-0 with both goals coming in the final nine minutes.

Substitute Sam Cook had not long been introduced when he climbed highest to head in a near-post corner. And four minutes later Federico Achilli brilliantly looped a header beyond the outstretched Yousri Gharsallah for the second.

The night's other games took place at Frank Drago Reserve, with none of the sides able to advance to the semis.

The final Group A ended in a 2-1 win for Bayswater City over Balcatta Etna. Lionel Glorieux's 28th-minute goal had Balcatta in front at the break. But a second-half double from Ndumba Makeche, including the winner two minutes from time, turned the game in the hosts' favour.

In Group B, Perth RedStar ensured they finished the group stage with back-to-back wins by sinking Sorrento 4-1. Chok Dau (2), Andrew Higgins and Ellis Healing got RedStar's goals, while Gustavo Giron Marulanda notched for the Gulls.
