Olympic's Top Four Cup escape as Stirling set up RedStar clash

Olympic Kingsway's treble bid moved a step closer on Saturday after they overcame Perth RedStar on penalties to reach the final of the NPLM Top Four Cup.

The league and State Cup winners looked to be facing a midweek preliminary final with Stirling Macedonia as they trailed to Joel Chianese's opener heading into stoppage time of extra-time at Kingsway Reserve.

But a corner by Joe Knowles went directly in at the near post to send the game to penalties where the first 10 were all scored.

RedStar keeper Liam Reddy, who had saved a first-half penalty from Joe Hobson and made several excellent stops in extra-time, then gave his side the initiative when he kept out Calum O'Connell's penalty. Unfortunately for RedStar, captain Blair Govan had his effort to win it saved by Adrian Sinagra. Aryn Williams scored for Olympic to put them 6-5 ahead, while Dennis Galan's Panenka landed on the roof of the Olympic net to give the hosts the win.

Last year's Top Four Cup winners Stirling kept their season alive as they knocked out Fremantle City 3-2 at Hilton Park.

Joshua Bilaloski netted for Stirling before Freo levelled befiore the break via a brilliant free-kick by Charlie Chechlacz. Stirling took a grip of the game early in the second half thanks to two goals from Alex Tanevski, and though Riley Woodcock threw Freo a late lifeline it wasn't enough.

RedStar and Stirling meet at Macedonia Park on Tuesday night for a place in next Saturday's final.
