Perth SC closed the gap on the Hyundai Football West Academy to two points after a 3-0 win in Sunday’s top-of-the-table clash in the NPLWA – Women’s competition.
The Azzurri put in a strong performance against the league leaders at Dorrien Gardens to remain unbeaten, while ending the 100% record of their opponents on a weekend where all four home sides won.
Tom Glavovic’s side made a perfect start to proceedings inside five minutes as Epril Nossent slipped a pass through for Daisy McAllister to hit a brilliant first-time strike up and over Daisy McGreadie-Cole.

Louise Tana headed Jess Flannery’s cross just wide before the visitors had a couple of chances to level later in the half. Klaudia Houlis fired over having burst her way into the box, before Lacey Heys shot straight at Dayle Schroeder when the hosts turned over possession in their own half.
Sakura Leong fired over early in the second half as the Academy tried to build some momentum. but just as they were having a spell in Perth territory, the home side countered with McAllister flicking on brilliantly for Louise Tana to run through on goal and finish with conviction for 2-0 on 57 minutes.
Xuri Dalton’s free-kick was tipped around the post by Schroeder midway through the second period. But Perth would seal it late on as Flannery timed her run to latch onto Sam Mathers’ through ball with the Goldfields forward having plenty of work to do before driving high across McGreadie-Cole into the net.

Perth RedStar sit five points off the leaders as they cruised to a 5-0 win over Balcatta Etna at RedStar Arena.
Caitlin Doeglas ignited the hosts with a nicely taken first-half double to set Chris Atturo’s side on their way. The opener came when she smartly lifted up and over Rebecca Bennett, while her second was all class as she took a touch and curled spectacularly into the top corner from just inside the area.
RedStar were celebrating Renee Leota’s 300th appearance for the club and the former New Zealand international enjoyed the milestone with her side’s third before the break, as she cashed in on a mistake at the back to round the goalkeeper and score.
Hopes of a Balcatta comeback were dashed when Sarah Carroll intercepted a Bennett pass to slot in, before Grace Monteiro’s ball forward was turned into her own net by Frankie Murray-Hocking as RedStar remain in pursuit of the top two.
Balcatta’s defeat saw them drop out of the top four, albeit they do have games in hand on the sides around them. They are replaced in the finals places by Fremantle City, who edged past Subiaco 1-0 at Hilton Park.
Leyna Wood got the only goal of the contest on six minutes when linking up with Mikayla Lyons and curling nicely into the bottom corner from just inside the box.
Subi thought they had an equaliser before the break but Stella Zampogna’s finish from Greta Bailey’s pass was ruled offside, while Tayna Campos lifted over from a late corner.

Finally, UWA Nedlands are off the mark in 2025 after winning 2-0 against Murdoch University Melville in Saturday’s meeting between the league’s bottom two.
Both sides were looking for their first points of the campaign, but it was Uni who hit the front when a visitors clearance fell straight for Andrea Preiato who scored brilliantly from long range.
Lawrence Lewis’ side wrapped it up 11 minutes from time after nice play from Melina Franklin saw her back post cross reach Amy Hartley, who teed up fellow substitute Hannah Seeley to net a first senior goal for the club.
Those goals combined with a second clean sheet in the NPL era took UWA off the bottom and within five points of fourth place.
