Hyundai raffle winner Lyndsey's ticket to ride

2024 Hyundai Community Football Raffle winner Lyndsey Mendham has shared her excitement after collecting her new car, valued at almost $55,000.

The 22-year-old from Scarborough won a Hyundai Kona Hybrid Premium N Line from Wangara Hyundai.

Lyndsey said: “When I first saw the car, I thought ‘wow, this is amazing!’

“I’d like to thank Hyundai … it does give everyone the opportunity to win.”

Lyndsey bought her ticket through Kingsley Westside FC, for whom she plays in the Hyundai Women’s League. Selling the winning ticket earned the club $3,000 in addition to the money they raised through ticket sales.

Club president Chris Brady said: “We were rapt to be involved in the Football West-Hyundai raffle again this year. Kingsley Westside raised around $10,000 between our juniors and our seniors.

“We’re very excited that one of our players has won the first prize, in particular a player from the Hyundai Women’s League.

“Thanks to Hyundai and Football West for organising such a great fundraising initiative.”

This was the fifth Hyundai Community Football Raffle with more than $320,000 worth of tickets sold in 2024. Since the raffle began, grassroots clubs in WA have retained more than $1million from tickets sales.

Fremantle City FC sold the tickets which won the second and third prizes, earning the club $3,000, while Bayswater City SC collected $6,000 in Club Bonus Prizes for the most overall sales and most online sales.

Hyundai Australia Regional General Manager Michael Beros said: “Congratulations to Football West and congratulations to the football clubs of Western Australia for making it happen – let’s go again next year.”

Football West CEO Jamie Harnwell said: “Congratulations to Kingsley Westside and the other clubs.

“It’s been another fantastic achievement this season, over $300,000 raised and every dollar going back to our clubs.

“It helps them in their fundraising and reduces the load on their volunteers. We look forward to growing it further and further next year.”
