RedStar, Azzurri through to NPLW Night Series semis

Perth RedStar and Perth SC have reached the NPLWA – Women’s Night Series semi-finals with a round to spare.

Six goals from Olivia Wood set up RedStar for a 10-0 thrashing of Curtin University at E&D Litis Stadium. Andreia Teixeira (2), Sara Kifayatullah and Natalia Vega Mena got the others.

RedStar, who remain unbeaten since 2021, will complete their Group A matches next week against Balcatta Etna who are in second place.

Balcatta drew 1-1 with Hyundai NTC last night, with Tanika Lala’s opener cancelled out by former NTC striker Monique Prinsloo.

NTC must beat Curtin by a big score next week and hope RedStar defeat Balcatta otherwise it will be last season’s two finalists who advance to the knockout stage.

In Group B Perth SC made it two wins from two as they overcame Murdoch University Melville 3-0 at Ellenbrook United. Poppie Hooks broke the deadlock against her former side, Abbey Meakins made it two and Jaime Duncanson added the third.

Fremantle City are second following their 3-0 win over Subiaco. Janice Kiama, Laura Waltman and Mikayla Lyons got the goals. A draw for Freo against Perth next week will be enough to progress.
