Football West would like to congratulate Shane Skinner on his appointment as an A-League Men’s match referee for the first time.
Skinner will take charge of this Saturday’s Round 23 fixture between Brisbane Roar and Newcastle Jets at Kayo Stadium.
This is the latest landmark for the 26-year-old, who has been refereeing with Football West for more than 10 years after completing his Level 4 Course in 2011 while a junior player at Melville City.
In 2022 he was joint winner of the Golden Whistle, which is presented to the Football West Referee of the Year, and last month he was the man in the middle for the Night Series final between Olympic Kingsway and Inglewood United.

Skinner’s other highlights include being referee for the 2019 Foxtel Y-League grand final between the Western Sydney Wanderers and Brisbane Roar at ANZ Stadium.
He was also referee when Floreat Athena and ECU Joondalup met in the 2021 State Cup final.
Football West Referee Strategic Lead Colin Duncan said: “Shane's appointment to this A League fixture is testament to the ambition, dedication and professionalism he has shown over the years to continually grow and develop in his referee pathway.
“He now takes the next step on his journey and we are absolutely delighted for him that his efforts have been recognised by the National Referee Department in Football Australia.”
