As Football West builds towards the 2023 season, we are delighted to report that player registrations continue to grow at a fantastic rate.
As of the weekend just gone, there were 18,904 players registered for the new campaign.
This reflects an increase of 23.6% when compared to the same period last year.
Overall registrations, which also include coaches, referees and volunteers, are tracking favourably with 2022 as well. The figure is currently at 20,848, a rise of 24.6%.
Football West CEO Jamie Harnwell said: “An increase in registrations of almost 25% when compared to last year is very encouraging and bodes well for the year ahead.
“We know the performance of the Socceroos in Qatar late last year gave our sport a big lift, and we also have the FIFA Women’s World Cup coming to our doorstep this year.
“We don’t want to celebrate too early and there will be some areas we might need to give extra focus to.
“But we have seen over the past few years that our registration numbers have grown and these latest figures reflect the hard work and commitment put in by our clubs, associations, players, volunteers and parents, as well as our Football West staff.”
