Stirling Macedonia and Sorrento FC will meet in this Saturday’s NPLWA – Men’s Night Series final at the Sam Kerr Football Centre.
The teams won their semi-finals at Percy Doyle, as Stirling beat Olympic Kingsway 3-1 while Sorrento defeated Perth Glory 4-3.
Stirling’s victory over last year’s treble winners came after all the goals were scored in the second half. Euan Cameron broke the deadlock two minutes after the restart, only for Luke Hewings to level for Olympic soon after.
Kai Matthews restored Stirling’s advantage 15 minutes from time and Joshua Bilaloski confirmed the win with his fifth goal in six games.
The second semi-final saw Sorrento come out on top in a seven-goal shoot-out.
It was 1-1 at the break, Seb Despatovski firing Glory ahead on two minutes and Andrew Maranta levelling midway through the half.
In-form Phoenix Lee put Sorrento ahead on the hour and although Khoa Ngo then brought Glory on terms, it was the hosts who finished the stronger.
First Clay Gibbs and then Dean Cummings put the Gulls 4-2 up. And despite Max Naylor’s late goal for Glory, Sorrento did enough to book a second successive Night Series final appearance following their State League success 12 months ago.
