The squelching pitches and threat of heavy rain failed to deter the enthusiasts last week with around 150 players turning out at Langley Park for the 2024 Africa Down Under Cup.
There were 14 teams involved in the small-sided tournament, which is in its 12th year and is held to coincide with the Africa Down Under mining conference.

The men’s tournament was won by Algeria, while the superhero movie-inspired Wakanda team lifted the women’s trophy.
Football West directors David Buckingham and Ivy Chen attended the event, which celebrates the football culture of the African communities in Perth.
