Super Stirling continue title march

Stirling Macedonia edged closer to the Men’s State League Division One title on Saturday with a 5-1 win over Subiaco.

Asher Nelson's left-footed drive made it 1-0 on 17 minutes before Sam Wynne picked out the bottom corner to double the lead.

Lucas Munoz pulled one back quickly for the visitors, but Ryan Hogan restored Stirling's two-goal cushion when he nodded in Gavin Knight's free-kick.

Ryan Malton's header from a corner made it four after 53 minutes and Gyles Davies completed the scoring with another set-piece finish as Stirling won for a 13th game on the spin.

The game of the day saw Mandurah City and Fremantle City share eight goals in a 4-4 thriller.

Fremantle struck twice in the first nine minutes as Callum Stocks broke the offside trap to poke in, before Adrian Ciampini struck a second across the goalkeeper.

Rory McGrath pulled one back quickly and then helped a header over the line to draw the hosts level at half-time.

Matt Sparrow's drive crept under the goalkeeper for 3-2 Fremantle, but Mandurah again responded when Taylor Carter hammered into the near post.

Incredibly Cameron Lord's side led for a third time of the afternoon as an own goal put them 4-3 up, but Mandurah had the answers all afternoon and remarkably levelled with three minutes left when Harry Collins thumped home.

John Baird hit the post for the hosts four minutes into added time as Pete Taylor's side nearly won it.

In another high-scoring game, Joondalup United held off a late rally from Quinns FC to win 3-2 and stay fourth.

Joel Ledsham's own goal set United on their way before Jamie Gardiner and Jay Lang volleyed in second half efforts to make it 3-0 after 69 minutes.

Ben Hinshelwood hooked one in for Quinns and then Declan Hudson's first of the season set up a nervy finish, but Nick Jennings' side kept their cool for back-to-back wins.

Western Knights jumped back above Quinns into second spot as they won 2-0 at UWA Nedlands to extend their unbeaten run to eight games.

Knights have lost only once this season, but seven draws have cost them in their pursuit of runaway leaders Stirling. They wouldn't slip up here though as Ciaran Byrne's free-kick put them into a ninth minute lead, the forward’s 20th league goal of the campaign.

John Chalmers then intercepted a pass and curled home a lovely finish for 2-0 which was his second in as many games.

Olympic Kingsway snapped a four-game winless run as they went eighth with a 2-1 win over Forrestfield United.

All the goals were scored in the first half and David Tough's side were required to come from behind after Tarek Atta's fifth goal of the season from Moses Macauley's cut back.

But Jack Lavis forced home at the second attempt from Josh Samson's cross and Ben Rutter completed the turnaround with a debut goal from close range after joining from ECU Joondalup.

Finally, Ashfield moved off the bottom of the league with a 1-0 win away at Swan United who replace them in the automatic relegation spot. Zakir Hussain scored the winner as the visitors won their fourth game of the campaign.

Dianella White Eagles stay 14 points clear of the rest of State League Division Two after a 3-1 win over Wanneroo City in Saturday's late kick off.

Conor McKee's first of the season put the hosts ahead on half an hour, but the Roos gave themselves hope when Nathan Scully scored his maiden goal of 2021 early in the second period.

But Stephen Musonda and Daniel Mackenzie struck in the space of four minutes late on, as Dianella march on and Wanneroo drop to fourth.

Kingsley Westside are two points clear of third-place Gosnells City after plundering seven goals past bottom side Kelmscott Roos.

Darren O'Riordan and Simone Sichel struck either side of a visitors’ own goal to lead by three at the interval and the goals continued after the restart with four more individual scorers.

Cameron Bishop, Joel Gillespie, Lewis Flatt and Bailey Salmon all found the net as Steve Dimitrovich's side bettered the six goals they put past Curtin in Round Two.

Gosnells were also in the goals as they put five past Curtin to climb above Wanneroo into third with a game in hand.

Wade Farmer struck twice and Jordan Parfitt added another in the first 45 minutes, as Marc Anthony's side set about extending their unbeaten run to 10 games.

And they did just that with further strikes from Farmer to complete his hat-trick and Parfitt as Gosnells continued their superb form.

Elsewhere, Murdoch University Melville edged past Balga SC 1-0 thanks to Dion Berman's goal as they remain fifth. Morley Windmills won by the same score line to join them in the top half with Danny O'Shea's goal decisive.

Joondalup City's game with Carramar Shamrock Rovers was abandoned after a serious injury in the first half.
