Tom Price ready to host NW Championships
The small Tom Price soccer community is gearing up to host the North West Championships as teams from Pilbara and Kimberley head to the town for the long weekend.
Around 250 players and a similar number of team officials, referees, volunteers and spectators will gather at the Clem Thompson Memorial Oval for Football West’s annual regional junior soccer tournament.
The event runs from Friday 29 May to Sunday 31 May and includes teams from Tom Price, Broome, Newman, Port Hedland and Karratha junior soccer associations. They will compete in Under 9, U11, U13 and U15 boys and girls categories.
Other activations include two MiniRoos ‘Come & Try’ sessions for four-to-six-year-olds, as well as an U11 iLeague game catering for children with disabilities, developmental delays and other barriers which might prevent them from enjoying mainstream football.
There will also be a firework display on the oval on Saturday from 7pm.
Football West General Manager – Football David Lewis said: “Many thanks to Tom Price Soccer Club and its President Hennie Potas for hosting the championships, as well as the other junior soccer associations who are participating.
“The feedback we receive each year from the teams that take part is hugely positive and the North West Championships offer a great opportunity to renew both friendships and sporting rivalries.
“Finally, we would like to acknowledge the tremendous support for the 2026 North West Championships from Fortescue Metals Group and the Shire of Ashburton, as well as the WA Government for its ongoing support for Football West programs in the regions.”
