WA Boys U14s team heading to Jakarta for Asiana Cup

Football West is excited to send a Gold Fields WA Boys U14s representative side to Indonesia to play in the eight-team Asiana Cup.

Teams from Spain, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and Australia will compete in the tournament in Jakarta, with each side guaranteed a minimum of four matches.

The tournament is open to boys born in 2010. Clubs with a team in the NPL U14 competition in 2024 were invited to send players to trial for the WA team.

Players from Balcatta Etna, Floreat Athena, Mandurah City, Perth Glory, Perth RedStar and Sorrento FC make up the 20-player squad.

New Football West Football Development Officer Neil Kilkenny is head coach with former Perth Glory NPL coach John Walmsley his assistant.

The team flies out tomorrow and returns next Tuesday.

The tour is in line with Football West's Asian Engagement. Football West would like to thank the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries for it support of the tour; the Indonesian Consul General in Perth Listiana Operananta for hosting the players for their shirt presentation last week; and team name sponsor Gold Fields Australia.
