Wembley Downs are the 2024 Belt Up Amateur Premier Division champions.
Robert Jackson’s side beat Kelmscott Roos 2-1 on Sunday to rack up win No.18 from 19 matches.
The result kept Wembley 13 points in front of Emerald, who have only four games remaining.
Having dropped their first points of the season the week before when losing to Morley Windmills, Wembley were determined to complete the job this time around.
They took the lead on 22 minutes through Harry Browne, and soon after Halil Russo doubled the advantage to put the hosts in the driving seat.
An own goal by Cameron Chambers shortly before half-time reduced the deficit for Roos, but any hopes of a comeback diminished with Kingsley Nteng’s red card midway through the second half.
Wembley saw out the game before celebrating their first Amateur title since 2017 to go along with the Night Series they won in April.
Second-place Emerald came from behind to win 2-1 away to North Beach. Alex Kretowicz struck first for North Beach, with Andrew Wood levelling before half-time. The game looked destined to finish all square until substitute Mark Bailey hit a last-minute winner for Emerald.
Emerald are three points ahead of Kelmscott, who are one point better off than Morley who are fourth. On Sunday Windmills beat Jaguar 2-0 thanks to two goals in 10 minutes either side of the break by Oliver Simpson and Travis Taylor.
Maccabi are clear in fifth following an incredible burst of six goals in 18 minutes against Peel United. Abel Thomas-hy, Jared Dimbleby, Dion Berman (2), Aamon Zothner and Liam Fyfe all netted to put Maccabi out of sight before the half-hour mark. Thankfully for Peel there was no further damage and they even managed to pull a goal back after the interval through Bradley Mallinder.
Kingsley Westside also enjoyed a 6-1 away win as they became the latest team to beat bottom club Joondalup United. Bailee Yeomans got a hat-trick, Craig Richards two and Reece Lane one as Kingsley cruised to victory. Jack Nunn got Joondalup’s goal a minute from time.
North Perth United survived a late fightback to beat South Perth United 3-2. The visitors were well set for a comfortable win when Dean O’Meara added to first-half goals from Eamonn Kelly and Kyle Jackson to make it 3-0 with under 20 minutes on the clock. But Isaac Gwolo pulled one back before Jack Johnson scored three minutes from time, as South Perth threatened to rescue an unlikely point.
