Wembley Downs have opened a significant points gap at the top of the Belt Up Amateur Premier Division after extending their 100% start to the season to 11 matches.
The 2024 Night Series winners brushed aside bottom club Joondalup United 6-0 on Sunday to move 10 points clear of second-place Kelmscott Roos at the halfway point of the campaign.
Sam Mattock and Thomas Bish scored two each for Wembley, with Harry Browne and Taye Thistlewaite also on the scoresheet against a Joondalup side still awaiting their first point.
Kelmscott’s title ambitions took a dent as they went down 3-2 at home to Maccabi.
Dion Berman and Aamon Zothner had the visitors two up, with Amos Doegolia Jr pulling one back late in the first half. Doegolia got his second to pull Roos level, only for Jonah Froman to snatch the win for Maccabi in the 89th minute.
Emerald are third after a 2-0 victory at Morley Windmills. Shane Hickey and Andrew Wood were the scorers.
Two goals from Abraham Taona helped Jaguar to a 3-2 win at home to Peel United. Majok Mayen also netted for the hosts, who are fourth, with Peel’s goals coming via Sergej Gluhovic and Daniel Fenton.
North Perth United beat Kingsley Westside 5-0 to go above their opponents in midtable. A double from Tom Carroll and one for Joshua Cortes had United 3-0 ahead at the interval. Eamonn Kelly added the fourth and Oliver Bradley rounded out the scoring.
Finally, Alex Kretoxicz scored four as North Beach won 5-1 away to South Perth United. Kane Graves also chipped in, while Sheldon Mulholland was on target for United.
