The Africa Down Under Cup is a free, annual five a side football tournament jointly hosted by Football West and Paydirt Media, celebrating African football culture and the diversity of Western Australia’s football community.
Each year, men’s and women’s teams can register at no cost to compete, making the event accessible and inclusive for teams from Perth’s African communities. The tournament provides a welcoming platform for friendly competition, community connection and cultural celebration through football.
The Africa Down Under Cup is held in Perth and coincides with the annual Africa Down Under Mining Conference, which focuses on raising awareness of Australia’s interests in African mining and energy. The alignment of the event highlights the link between sport, culture and industry, and the role football plays in bringing people together beyond the pitch.
Delivered in partnership with Paydirt Media and supported by the Construction Training Fund, the Africa Down Under Cup has become a vibrant and well recognised fixture on the Football West calendar. It continues to grow each year, reflecting the passion, pride and community spirit that football inspires across Western Australia.
