State Coaching Conference

The Annual State Coaching Conference

The State Coaching Conference is Football West’s flagship professional development event for coaches across Western Australia. Delivered annually, the conference brings together coaches from community through to advanced levels for a full day of learning, discussion and practical insight into the modern game.

Designed to support coaches at every stage of their journey, the conference focuses on contemporary coaching themes, Football Australia frameworks, and the practical application of key principles on the pitch. Sessions typically combine theory based presentations with on field demonstrations, giving coaches ideas they can take straight back to their teams.

What to expect

Each State Coaching Conference features a mix of keynote presentations, interactive discussions and practical coaching sessions. Content is led by experienced coach educators and high level practitioners, often including national and professional coaches, Football Australia technical staff, and respected voices from across the game.

Topics vary year to year but commonly explore areas such as principles of play, current trends in football, coach education direction, and how national frameworks translate into real world training environments. Practical model sessions are a core feature, providing live examples across different phases of player development.

Why attend

The conference is a valuable opportunity to step away from the weekly routine, connect with other coaches, and refresh your thinking. It provides dedicated time to learn, reflect and engage with the broader coaching community, while staying aligned with national direction and best practice.

Attendance also contributes to ongoing coach development requirements, with CPD hours awarded for coaches who complete the full conference program.

When and where

The 2026 State Coaching Conference is usually held toward the end of the season and hosted at the Sam Kerr Football Centre. The one-day format makes it accessible for coaches across metropolitan and regional areas, with catering and parking typically included as part of registration.

Registrations

The State Coaching Conference is popular and places are limited each year. Coaches are encouraged to keep an eye out for registration announcements and secure their spot early once registrations open.
