Local Governments are a key stakeholder in the development of community football. They play an important role in the planning and provision of sporting infrastructure, community development and the long-term sustainability of clubs.
As part of the New Club Application Process, written support from your Local Government demonstrates that appropriate consultation has occurred and that your proposal has been considered within the broader context of local community needs, facility capacity and future planning. It also helps establish a positive working relationship from the outset.
Securing access to a facility alone does not guarantee approval of a new club application. The NCAP considers a range of factors, including demonstrated community need, sustainability, consultation with key stakeholders and alignment with Football West’s strategic objectives. Even where a private or independently secured facility is available, engagement with the relevant Local Government remains an important part of the assessment process.
