CPD & WORKSHOPS

Coach CPD (Continuing Professional Development)

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is a key part of maintaining your coaching accreditation and continuing to grow as a coach. CPD supports ongoing learning, helps coaches stay aligned with Football Australia’s coaching framework, and ensures best practice across the game.

Football West provides CPD opportunities throughout the year across a range of formats. These include state conferences, coach workshops, approved online learning, and endorsed development activities. Eligible activities attract CPD hours, which are recorded against your coaching profile.

CPD requirements vary depending on your licence level. Coaches are responsible for completing the required number of CPD hours within the applicable period to maintain their accreditation. Planning your CPD across the season allows you to combine formal education with practical, hands on learning.

CPD opportunities, eligibility and hour allocations are communicated when each activity is released. Coaches are encouraged to regularly check Football West updates and the Football Australia Learning Centre for guidance and upcoming opportunities.

Coach Workshops

Football West delivers coach workshops throughout the year to provide practical, relevant learning opportunities outside of formal coaching courses. Workshops are delivered on an ad hoc basis, responding to coach demand, key development themes, and opportunities to bring quality presenters to Western Australia.

Workshops may focus on specific topics such as principles of play, session design, age-appropriate coaching, game understanding, or current trends in football. Delivery formats vary and can include classroom based learning, on pitch demonstrations, or a combination of both.

Some workshops are open to all coaches, while others may be targeted to specific cohorts or delivered in partnership with Football Australia, clubs, associations or regional stakeholders. These sessions provide coaches with ideas and tools that can be applied immediately in their training environment.
