Advanced Coaching Courses

Advanced coaching supporting and education

From the C Diploma, which is the entry point into the advanced coaching stream working with junior and grassroots teams, to the B and A Diplomas which represent more advanced stages, these qualifications help coaches to lead at the top levels of the national game.

Frequently Asked Questions

Advanced coach courses are for coaches who have already completed entry-level community accreditation and want to progress into more in-depth coaching development with formal diplomas.

We deliver the Football Australia C Diploma, B Diploma, and information about future A Diploma offerings — each building on the previous level to support you as you develop your coaching expertise.

The C Diploma is the first step in the advanced pathway. It focuses on understanding technical coaching skills — such as passing, receiving, ball striking and basic defending — alongside the Principles of Play and coaching fundamentals.

The B Diploma is a more advanced course designed for coaches working with players around 12 years and older. It emphasises coaching players in attack and defence and applying these ideas in opposed practices and small-sided games.

The A Diploma is for highly experienced coaches who already hold a B Diploma or recognised equivalent. It focuses on higher tactical understanding and applying the Principles of Play to full-field games (including 9v9 and 11v11). Details are published when courses are confirmed.

Advanced courses run at venues around Western Australia, including the Sam Kerr Football Centre and other locations. Exact dates and delivery blocks are listed on the advanced coach courses page.

Each diploma has different requirements. For example the B Diploma combines in-person attendance, online learning and practical assessment over multiple days or blocks. The total learning hours and structure vary by qualification.

Registration links are listed on the advanced courses page against each diploma offering. Once registered, you will receive the information needed to access learning platforms and participation details.

To enrol in the B Diploma you must have completed the C Diploma first. For the A Diploma, a current B Diploma or recognised equivalent is required.

Fees vary by course and are shown with each listing on the advanced courses page. For example, recent C Diploma offerings have a set fee, and B Diplomas are higher reflecting the extended delivery.

Yes. Full attendance and completion of required learning components are expected for each diploma. Football Australia rules allow makeup sessions for eligible absences within limits.
