WA State Team

Junior and Senior WA State Teams

The WA State Teams program represents the highest level of representative football in Western Australia, bringing together the state’s top players to compete against the best from across the country.

Football West selects and delivers State Teams across a number of categories, including:

  • Men’s State Team
  • Women’s State Team
  • Amateur Men’s State Team
  • Boys U15 and U16 State Teams
  • Girls U15 and U16 State Teams
  • Para State Team (delivered in partnership with the Football Futures Foundation)

Selection process

Selection into WA State Teams varies across age groups.

For youth teams (U15 and U16 boys and girls), annual trials are typically held, providing players with the opportunity to be identified and selected into the program.

For senior State Teams, players are selected based on performances in Football West competitions. Players are actively scouted throughout the season and invited into the program based on form, consistency and suitability.

Across all teams, selection is based on performance, potential and attitude.
